Exogenic production of bioactive filamentous biopolymer by monogonant rotifers

چکیده

The chemical ecology of rotifers has been little studied. A yet unknown property is presented within some monogonant rotifers, namely the ability to produce an exogenic filamentous biopolymer, named ‘Rotimer’. This rotifer-specific viscoelastic fiber was observed in six different freshwater monogonants (Euchlanis dilatata, Lecane bulla, Lepadella patella, Itura aurita, Colurella adriatica and Trichocerca iernis) exception four species. Induction Rotimer secretion can only be achieved by mechanically irritating rotifer ciliate with administering types (yeast cell skeleton, denatured BSA, epoxy, Carmine or urea crystals micro-cellulose) sizes (approx. from 2.5 50 µm diameter) inert particles, as inductors visualization adhering particles. thickness this 33 ± 3 nm, detected scanning electron microscope. material two structural formations (fiber gluelike) nano dimension. existence novel adherent natural product becomes visible forming a ‘Rotimer-Inductor Conglomerate’ (RIC) web structure few minutes. RIC-producing capacity animals, depends on viability, significantly modified according physiological- (depletion), drug- (toxin stimulator) environmental (temperature, salt content pH) effects. E. dilatata-produced RIC affected protein disruptors but resistant several influences its component overwhelming (algae, yeast human neuroblastoma) motility inhibitory effect, associated low toxicity. biopolymer-secretion-capacity protective against human-type beta-amyloid aggregates.

Screening of Lovastatin Production by Filamentous Fungi

In the present study, 110 fungal strains of Persian Type Culture Collection (PTCC) including some selected strains isolated in various screening projects were tested for their potentiality to produce lovastatin, a competitive inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMG-CoA reduc-tase), the rate-limiting enzyme of cholesterol biosynthesis. The fungal strains were cultivated in a t...

Viscoelastic properties of vimentin compared with other filamentous biopolymer networks

The cytoplasm of vertebrate cells contains three distinct filamentous biopolymers, the microtubules, microfilaments, and intermediate filaments. The basic structural elements of these three filaments are linear polymers of the proteins tubulin, actin, and vimentin or another related intermediate filament protein, respectively. The viscoelastic properties of cytoplasmic filaments are likely to b...

Production of L-asparaginase by filamentous fungi.

L-asparaginase production was investigated in the filamentous fungi Aspergillus tamarii and Aspergillus terreus. The fungi were cultivated in medium containing different nitrogen sources. A. terreus showed the highest L-asparaginase (activity) production level (58 U/L) when cultivated in a 2% proline medium. Both fungi presented the lowest level of L-asparaginase production in the presence of g...
